What To Expect
Head to Kalama Beach Park in Kihei on the morning of your lesson. You’ll be fitted with a board that’s right for your size and a paddle. A variety of board sizes are available, but please the operator know if you need a board suitable for guests over 220 pounds (99 kilograms). Then hit the water to begin your introduction to stand-up paddle boarding (also known as “SUP”).
Get the hang of balancing on your board as you engage various muscles in your feet, legs, and core. Many SUP participants consider the sport to be a great way to get exercise while enjoying a mellow time on the water. You can make your paddleboard lesson as hard or as easy as you like, going at your own pace and choosing to even catch a small wave or two if you’re feeling extra adventurous. You’ll finish your lesson back on the beach.
